4 things to do on rainy days in Palermo!

What happens if you have booked your holiday on rainy days?

First of all DON’T BE DISCOURAGED! Palermo is rich in history, ancient buildings, bars and exhibitions.

Here are 4 original ideas for visiting Palermo in the dry!

1 – A good coffee and a typical sweet to start the day well
With a short walk towards the 4 Canti you can make your first stop in the cloister of the church of Santa Caterina, “The secrets of the Cloister”, in Piazza Bellini. You can:
Eat a delicious cannoli espresso and learn about the origin of Martorana fruit;
Visit the monastery and take a look at the city from above on its roofs.

2 – A walk in the heart of Ballarò
Ballarò is about to become the first covered market in the city! While you wait, you can certainly find refuge in the large awnings of the stalls while you are surprised by the multiculturalism of the area and its colorful murals. You can:
Drink a good pomegranate or orange juice and if you are hungry try the restaurant “Il Bersgliere” or “Moltivolti”
Observe how several ethnic groups live together in the same neighborhood, learn about SOS Ballarò and the art of murals.

3- Visit to the Norman Palace and the Palatine Chapel
Crossing the centenary palm grove of Villa Bonanno, you will arrive at the Palazzo dei Normanni or Royal Palace. You can:
See the best example of Arab-Norman architecture with its muqarnas.
Attend the contemporary art exhibition of the moment hosted in the building.

4- Enter the third largest theater in Europe
Taking a very comfortable free shuttle, which crosses the historic center, you will return to Piazza Verdi where the majestic Teatro Massimo awaits you. Built on the ruins of a demolished church, it will tell you about the Florios, ghosts and social life. You can:
Stand in the stage and on the stairs where some of the scenes from “The Godfather” were filmed.
Walking through halls with particular acoustics or directly attending a show.

If all this is not enough for you, you can always ask us for advice at the Reception! We would always have a prompt response to your needs.
