We all saw Harry Potter take the train from 9 and three quarters track to go to the School of Magic and Witchcraft of Hogwarts … and I can say with certainty that the surreal experience is more or less the same! From the normal Palermo Central station to a very normal track, a MAGIC train leaves for the 75th Almond Blossom Festival in Agrigento!
The train, whose rolling stock is part of the historic park of Fondazione FS Italiane, is made up of the historical locomotive from the 1960s and some carriages from the 1960s and 1930s which will lend a vintage charm to your journey.
Sitting on comfortable wooden seats and transported back in time you would expect to find a cart loaded with playful treats to make your travel companions laugh. Instead, you will have the opportunity to taste artisan croissants and an exquisite espresso, as well as to have a Sicilian lunch basket with lots of baked pasta!
While the green landscapes of rural Sicily will flow from behind your windows you will listen, like a soundtrack, to the traditional island music played live in the carriages.
Final destination … the Temples Valley!
The best part is that you can go back to Palermo overnight and visit the festival in the day. Palermo and Agrigento in the same weekend … It’s magic, isn’t it?
